Judgement expected on UK mass surveillance case

Spokespeople available for interview after the ruling

A judgement is expected at 10am on 5 December 2014 on whether the UK mass surveillance programme is lawful. This follows a legal challenge brought jointly by Amnesty International, Liberty and Privacy International.

The judgement will be released at the Rolls Building, Fetter Lane, London.

This judgement follows hearings held in July 2014, which were the first time that UK intelligence agencies, including the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) appeared in a public courtroom to answer direct challenges relating to the lawfulness of the UK legal framework governing communications surveillance, based on the revelations of mass surveillance programmes made by Edward Snowden last year.
