Amnesty International Report 2011: State of human rights in the Middle East and North Africa, January to mid-April 2011

Index Number: POL 10/012/2011

People first called for fundamental change in Tunisia at the end of 2010, the year covered by Amnesty International’s latest annual worldwide survey of human rights. Since then, the call for change has echoed through the region. Whatever the outcome of the uprisings that have so far won the day or are still to be decided, the region will never be the same again. In a few short months, a new era has opened, marked by unprecedented people’s power and a thirst for change, reform and respect for human rights.
