Hamadi Jebali, editor of the weekly al-Fair (Dawn) was sentenced to one year in prison by a military court in Tunis on 31 January 1991. His magazine had published an article calling for the abolition of military courts in Tunisia. Mohammed Nouri, the writer of the article, was sentenced to six month’s imprisonment but granted bail until his appeal.
