Morocco: The authorities must swiftly implement the recommendations of the UN Human Rights Committee

Index Number: MDE 29/5158/2016

Following the UN Human Rights Committee’s concluding observations on Morocco and Western Sahara, issued on 4 November, Amnesty International calls on the Moroccan authorities to implement the UN rights body’s recommendations, particularly in the context of the current reforms of the Penal Code and the Code of Criminal Procedure. The committee’s recommendations addressed several human rights concerns, including gender-based discrimination and violence, rights in custody and trials and restrictions to the right to freedom of expression.
