Amnesty International is submitting this response to the call for input in advance of a report by the Independent Expert on the enjoyment of all human rights by older persons’ on the “right to social protection and the right to work of older persons”. In this document, Amnesty International sets out its reporting on this issue from several countries, particularly regarding how social protection and the right to work intersect with economic crises, armed conflict and climate change. This reporting, from Lebanon, Ukraine, Pakistan, Myanmar and Nigeria, was conducted between 2019 and 2025.
