Recommendations to parties to UNFCCC on human rights consistent climate action in 2023

The climate crisis is a human rights crisis that is worsening day by day, yet it is still possible to avoid the worst impacts. Rapid and sustained action is needed if the increase in global average temperatures is to be kept within 1.5°C, a target likely to be breached by 2027 without course correction and the window for such action is rapidly narrowing. This briefing, which updates an earlier briefing in May 2023, provides recommendations to parties to the UNFCCC ahead of COP28 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in November/December 2023.
