Amnesty International welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the strategic vision of the Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance. The submission is structured around some of the themes covered in the questions laid out by the Special Rapporteur with a focus on key trends in racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance that have been observed in recent years and how to address the links between past systemic harms, particularly colonialism and the transatlantic slave trade, and contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance.
