Human rights should be central to capacity building in public health: Panel discussion on realizing the right to health by enhancing capacity-building in public health

Amnesty International oral statement to the 35th session of the UN Human Rights Council (6 - 23 June 2017). Amnesty International research has shown that public health systems often do not adequately address the health needs of specific groups. The organization calls on the Human Rights Council to urge States, with support from relevant UN agencies, to: Develop and strengthen public health systems; Invest in human rights training for health workers; and to Develop robust accountability mechanisms in health systems.
