This written statement sets out Amnesty International’s concerns with regard to the situation of human rights defenders globally almost 20 years after the adoption of the Declaration on the Right and Responsibility of Individuals, Groups and Organs of Society to Promote and Protect Universally Recognized Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. It also sets out a number of recommedations to the UN Human Rights Council.
