Ahead of relevant International meetings in 2021, Amnesty International is calling on all states to urgently raise their ambition on climate action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with keeping the temperature rise as low as possible and no higher than 1.5°C and in a manner that advances human rights, including when submitting their national climate pledges. It also urges G7 and G20 member states to demonstrate true global leadership to address the climate emergency, including by committing to plans to end fossil fuel subsidies and to increase climate finance.
