, Index number: IOR 40/0544/2019

The United Nations Special Rapporteur on adequate housing as a component of the right to an adequate standard of living has announced that her forthcoming report will focus on the right to adequate housing for Indigenous Peoples. In this submission, Amnesty International present four cases which show how evictions carried out without consultation and free, prior and informed consent of the affected Indigenous peoples, inadequate and culturally inappropriate compensation, the failure to ensure access to justice, and the failure to ensure adequate and culturally appropriate housing can impact on the rights of Indigenous peoples.
