Ukraine: “They live in the dark”: Older people’s isolation and inadequate access to housing amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine

Older people, who make up one-fourth of Ukraine’s population, have faced unique violations of their human rights since Russia’s full-scale invasion. Disproportionately among those killed or injured during the conflict, they also struggle in displacement to access housing, support services, and healthcare on an equal basis with others. The fastest way to protect civilians in Ukraine is for Russia to end its invasion, but Ukraine can ensure even now that it is building a society that is age- and disability-inclusive to all.
