Belarus: Torture and ill-treatment of peaceful demonstrators by the police, arbitrary arrests and prisoners of conscience
Hundreds of protestors were arrested after a series of peaceful demonstrations in Belarus in 1998. Amnesty International is concerned at reports of ill-treatment of protestors and prisoners of conscience by the police.
