United Kingdom: Submission to the United Nations Committee against Torture

This briefing summarizes Amnesty International’s current concerns about the UK’s failure to comply with some of its obligations under the Convention and addresses a number of areas, from universal jurisdiction, to access to abortion, to accountability mechanisms for the large numbers of still outstanding allegations of abuse in Iraq. Regrettably, in several of these areas the Committee has previously made recommendations to the UK which are yet to be fulfilled.
