Netherlands: Inhuman and unnecessary: Human rights violations in Dutch high-security prisons in the context of counterterrorism – Executive summary

In the Netherlands, individuals who are detained or convicted on terrorism charges are held in two special high-security detention units, known as terroristenafdeling, or TA. In these facilities people suspected of even non-violent offenses are subject to the same extreme levels of control as those who have been convicted. This is the summary of a report from Amnesty International Netherlands and the Open Society Justice Initiative which reveals the fundamental flaws in the TA system.
