Americas: The Cost of Curing: Health workers' rights in the Americas during COVID-19 and beyond
Almost half the people in the world who have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus live in the Americas region. Unfortunately, access to health care is not a reality for many people in the Americas and the COVID-19 pandemic arrived in a region home to several countries already experiencing profound health care crises. In this context, health workers are finally being recognized as essential to securing the safety of millions of lives. And yet at the same time, they are facing serious challenges in realizing their human rights to work and to health.
