This briefing is submitted to the Human Rights Committee ahead of its consideration of Iran’s third periodic report on its implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR or the Covenant). As the Committee has already received several briefings by other NGOs, many of which mirror some of Amnesty International’s own concerns, this briefing aims to highlight only certain egregious violations of the Covenant and includes some of Amnesty International’s key recommendations to the Iranian government.
