Macedonia: Written submissions on behalf of Amnesty International and the International Commission of Jurists regarding El-Masri v “The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia”

These submissions are presented on behalf of Amnesty International and the International Commission of Jurists (‘the interveners’) to address the obligations of the High Contracting Parties to the European Convention on Human Rights. Frequent reference is made to the US-led ‘secret detentions and renditions system that depended on the co-operation of many states. The submissions address the applicability of non-refoulement obligations. The interveners conclude with a comment on the right to truth, as it relates to the renditions and secret detentions system.
