Further information on UA 51/92 (AMR 23/09/92, 13 February 1992) - Fear of
Amnesty International has learned of the release of Dubadier Rodríguez.
Dubadier Rodríguez was detained by members of the army's 21 Vargas Batallion,
Batallón 21 Vargas on 16 January 1992 in the locality of Caño Brasil,
municipality of El Castillo, Meta department. There was serious concern for
his safety as military authorities reportedly denied his detention.
According to information received from the Colombian Presidential Adviser on
Human Rights, Consejero Presidencial para los Derechos Humanos, Dubadier
Rodríguez was released without charge in March 1992. An independent source
confirmed that Dubadier Rodríguez was released on 24 March in the presence
of a representatives from the Church and from the Red Cross and stated that:
'thanks to the international campaign set in motion by Amnesty International,
his "reappearance" was brought about', "Gracias a la campaña internacional
desarrollada por AI se logró su reaparición."
