Vanuatu: End impunity through universal jurisdiction [No Safe Haven Series 8]

Vanuatu legislation provides for universal jurisdiction over only two crimes under international law, grave breaches of the Geneva Conventions in certain circumstances, and slave trading. Vanuatu is currently a safe haven from prosecution in its courts for foreigners who are suspected of crimes under international law. It is also a safe haven from extradition for war crimes and crimes against humanity, for example. There are no known cases in Vanuatu involving universal jurisdiction.
