These are: the imprisonment of prisoners of conscience; convictions allegedly based on confessions obtained by torture; aspects of the National Security Law facilitating the imprisonment of people for non-violent political views or activities; laws restricting freedom of expression; police powers of arrest and interrogation; the role of the prosecution authorities in the protection of human rights; the need to ratify the Convention against Torture; the death penalty; and the need for a Human Rights Ombudsman.
