Indonesia: Civil and political rights’ violations In Papua and West Papua: List of issues prior to reporting (LOIPR) for Indonesia CCPR Session 129, June-July 2020

This submission sets out some key concerns about the fulfilment of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. It focuses on extra-judicial killings, arbitrary arrests and other crimes under international law and human rights violations against Indigenous Papuans; freedom of peaceful assembly and association, racial discrimination, and the rights to self-determination; political prisoners (prisoners of conscience) and the right to a fair trial and humane prison conditions; restrictions on media freedom; and forced internal displacement.
