China: Open letter re: the current situation of Nurmemet (aka Nurmuhemmet) Yasin

In this open letter, Amnesty International requests confirmation about the current situation of Nurmemet (aka Nurmuhemmet) Yasin (努尔买买提 or 努尔莫哈提亚辛), an ethnic Uighur writer and poet who was sentenced in 2005 to ten years’ imprisonment on charges of “inciting separatism”. Amnesty International considers Nurmemet Yasin a prisoner of conscience, imprisoned solely for the legitimate exercise of his human rights, and has repeatedly called for his immediate and unconditional release.
