Guillermo Zárraga, a 59-year-old Venezuelan former unionist, was arbitrarily detained in Venezuela in November 2020. Since being taken from his home in the middle of the night, he has been charged and tried for alleged criminal association and revealing national security information, although there is no evidence to support these allegations. In prison, Guillermo’s health has severely deteriorated due to inhumane detention conditions. In July, he fainted a number of times due to lack of enough food, medicines and harsher detention conditions. We demand he is given access to adequate food, immediate medical care, and is guaranteed humane detention conditions.
