VENEZUELA SUBMISSION TO THE UNITED NATIONS HUMAN RIGHTS COMMITTEE
Amnesty International is submitting this briefing to the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Committee (the Committee) ahead of its examination of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela’s 4th report on the implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (the Covenant).1 The document highlights Amnesty International’s on-going human rights concerns in Venezuela in relation to violations of the right of physical integrity, freedom of peaceful assembly and due process, as well as violations of the rights of people deprived of their liberty, impunity for past and present human rights violations; attacks against human rights defenders and gender-based violence.
