Kenneth Foster, black, aged 30. had his death sentence commuted to life imprisonment by Texas Governor Rick Perry on 30 August, a few hours before he was due to be executed. He had been sentenced to death in 1997 for the 1996 murder of Michael LaHood. Amnesty International welcomes the commutation of Kenneth Foster’s death sentence and will continue to urge an end to all executions in Texas and elsewhere in the USA.
