This report uses cases to illustrate the sexual violence, discrimination and severe health risks facing women and girls in Jamaica. Through testimony and empirical evidence this report shows that sexual harassment and assault by strangers, friends, family, acquaintances, and lovers is widespread. The report shows that investigations against perpetrators can be inadequate and ineffective, there are long delays, and women often face discrimination during the legal process. In this report, Amnesty International is urging reform of gender discriminatory legislation without delay; implementation of implement the recommendations of the Jamaican Women’s Manifesto of 2002; and support of an Arms Trade Treaty.
