Colombia: Shoots on sight: eye trauma in the context of the National Strike

This report, produced jointly by the Programa de Acción por la Igualdad y la Inclusión Social (PAIIS) of the Universidad de los Andes, Temblores and Amnesty International, documents the violent repression of social protest in Colombia in the context of the National Strike that began in April 2021 and has resulted in around 100 people sustaining eye trauma. This report aims to draw attention to the consequences of the excessive actions of the Colombian police through its Mobile Anti-Riot Squad (Escuadrones Móviles Antidisturbios, ESMAD) and the harm suffered by hundreds of seriously injured people, particularly those with eye trauma.
