Amnesty International is sending this open letter to express its deep concern for the situation faced by people in need of international protection at the border between Chile and Peru. This situation has arisen owing to the measures implemented by the governments of both countries in response to refugees and migrants attempting to cross the border in this area, including the deployment of military forces and the declaration of a state of emergency.
