Amnesty International is calling on the Heads of State of the American continent to redouble their commitment to human rights and the instruments and mechanisms that promote and protect them at regional level. This statement emphasizes several issues that are particularly topical on the eve of the Sixth Summit of the Americas: the rights of Indigenous Peoples, violence against women and girls, the situation of human rights defenders, the struggle for justice and the state of the Inter-American human rights system.
