This report introduces AI’s forthcoming campaign to end human rights violations against indigenous peoples in the Americas, summarizing past actions taken by the organization to publicize such abuses. The violations in question often occur in the contexts of disputes about land rights, internal armed conflict or “drugs wars”. Victims frequently include activists for indigenous rights, political and trade union workers; the cases described here are drawn from eleven countries in the Americas.
