In the absence of political will, technical assistance processes are by themselves futile. Recent developments in South Sudan are a clear indication of the government’s lack of political will. We are seriously concerned by recent reports of a spillover of the armed conflict in Sudan into South Sudan, as well possible violations of the 2018 UN Security Council arms embargo on South Sudan, including the deployment of the Ugandan defence forces in the country. We are equally concerned about conflicts which are currently ongoing across South Sudan, most notably in the Greater Equatoria region and Greater Upper Nile region
