UN Human Rights Council must continue scrutiny of deteriorating human rights situation in South Sudan

This public statement is based on an oral statement Amnesty International delivered to the Human Rights Council on 27 February 2026, during the interactive dialogue with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (HRC). It calls for the HRC to continue its scrutiny of the human rights situation in South Sudan and, at its ongoing 61st session, extend the mandate of the Commission on Human Rights in South Sudan for two years.
