South Africa: Prison Conditions in South Africa
It was in 1964 that Amnesty International resolved at its Annual Assembly to embark on the publication of reports on the conditions in the prisons of all countries holding 'Prisoners of Conscience'. As there are over seventy such countries and all of them by definition conceal what goes on in their prisons, the undertaking is considerable.
