Senegal: Human Rights between Regression and Repression Amnesty International: Submission to the 45th Session of the UPR Working Group, January-February 2024

This submission was prepared for the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of Senegal in January – February 2024. In it, Amnesty International evaluates the implementation of recommendations made to Senegal in its previous review, including freedom of the press and freedom of expression, women and girls’ rights, excessive use of force and children’ rights. Regarding the human rights situation on the ground, Amnesty International is very concerned about the worsening trend in violations of the rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, and excessive use of force by defence and security forces.
