Nigeria: Accountability for human rights violations remains elusive: Amnesty International submission to the 45th session of the UPR working group, January-February 2024

In this submission, Amnesty International evaluates the implementation of recommendations made to Nigeria in its previous UPR in 2018, including in relation to enforced disappearances, human rights violations by the security forces, torture and other ill-treatment, gender-based violence and gender equality, and the impact of the oil industry on human rights. It also assesses the national human rights framework with regard to the Nigerian Constitution and the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, as well as the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) (VAPP) Act, 2015.
