Nigeria: Ten years on: injustice and violence haunt the oil Delta

This report is part of Amnesty International’s worldwide campaign to demonstrate the need to establish universally recognised standards applicable to companies. Amnesty International is calling for urgent and independent inquiries by the Nigerian Federal government into allegations that its security forces killed and injured civilians in incidents involving the Ugborodo community in Delta State. It is urging the parent oil companies Chevron and Shell to investigate their involvement and responsibility of their local subsidiaries and the UK and US governments to ensure that the parent companies respect the human rights of the communities where they operate.
