In August and December 2008, two major oil spills disrupted the lives of the 69,000 people living in Bodo, Nigeria. Both spills continued for weeks before they were stopped. Three years on, the Shell Petroleum Development Company has still not cleaned up the oil. As the evidence in this report illustrates, this continues to have catastrophic consequences for tens of thousands of people in Bodo, whose lives have been directly affected by ongoing pollution.
