Niger: Harassment of government opponents has become systematic
Amnesty International urges the Nigerian Government to end the systematic human rights violations committed with impunity by the security forces since the January 1996 coup. AI also calls urgently for prompt, thorough and impartial investigations into all alleged human rights violations, especially the torture and ill-treatment of members and supporters of opposition political parties by members of the security forces and that those responsible to be brought to justice.
