Migration-Related Detention:A research guide on human rights standards relevant to the detention of migrants, asylum-seekers and refugees

This research guide is aimed at providing individuals working on the issue of migration-related detention with information about the human rights standards which place limitations on this practice. The guide contains Amnesty International’s policy derived from these standards. International law contains a presumption against detention, places clear constraints on its usage and requires that the conditions are humane. Special attention is also given to standards relating to particular groups of concern, including children and other vulnerable categories.
