Tunisia: Further information on health concern / prisoner of conscience and ill-treatment: Najib El Baccouchi
On 11 December 1996, Najib El Baccouchi, a member of the executive bureau of the Union Generale des Etudiants Tunisiens (UGET), stopped his hunger-strike. During his hunger-strike he was beaten and held incommunicado. He has now been visited by his family. Amnesty International continues to call for his immediate release as a prisoner of conscience.
