Algeria: Civilian population caught in a spiral of violence
The last year has seen the longest and most intense spell of violence since the begining of the conflict in Algeria, and the human rights crisis has continued to worsen. Hundreds, often thousands of people have been killed every week, in an atmosphere of increasing lack of protection for the civilian population. AI calls for an international investigation into the massacres and other human rights abuses, so as to reveal the truth with a view to bringing the perpetrators of these crimes to justice and ensuring the protection of the civilian population.
