Two of the prisoners referred to in the medical appeal issued on 15 October 1991 have been released. They are: Lina al-Mir, a 30-year-old medical student and May al-Hafez, a 36-year-old lecturer in engineering. Lina al- Mir is reported to suffer from long-standing heart problems which necessitated her admission into al-Mezze military hospital during her detention. May al-Hafez is reported to suffer from sickle-cell anaemia.
