Syria: Medical letter-writing action: Imprisoned health professionals
Following widespread agitation for political reforms, including an end to the state of emergency, in 1980, some 100 health professionals were arrested. Seven have since been released, two are reported to have been executed and the continued detention without trial of four other doctors has been confirmed by AI. Further information on the other detainees is not available. A list of those believed still to be detained is included.
