Two men (Sheikh Mastan, alias Mohammed Salim, and Hamza Abu Bakir), both Indian nationals, are at risk of imminent execution. There has been an upsurge in the number of people executed in Saudi Arabia since January 2008. At least 25 people have been executed since 8 January; eight of them for drug related offences and the rest for murder and armed robbery.
