Palestinian Authority: Defying the rule of law: Political detainees held without charge or trial
Hundreds of political detainees are currently held in Palestinian prisons and detention centres without charge or trial, some for more than four years, outside the framework of Palestinian law and in violation of international human rights standards. This reprot analyses the practice of prolonged detneiton without charge or trial in areas under the jurisdiction of the Palestinian authrotiy and examines the response of various Palestinian institutions to this phenomenon. Teh report assembles a number of representative case histories.
