Since the start of the conflict in western Libya in July 2014 between the Libya Dawn coalition of militias and their rivals, militias and armed groups on all sides have committed serious human rights abuses and violations of international humanitarian law some of which amount to war crimes. This briefing describes the range of abuses perpetrated by all parties to the conflict, including indiscriminate shelling, abductions and hostage-taking of civilians, torture and other ill-treatment and summary killings.
