Israel and the Occupied Territories: Taysir Ahmad Husayn Shtayeh – Administrative detention

Taysir Ahmad Husayn, a doctor from Nablus on the West Bank and Head of the Doctors’ Association in Nablus, was arrested on 28 July 1991 and issued with a six-month detention order dated 22 July 1991. At his appeal hearing the authorities are reported to have alleged that he was a major activist in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. The length of his order was reduced and he is due to be released on 5 January 1992. He is currently held in Ketziot detention centre.
