He was arrested on 6 February 2000 in Erbil and for the next three years his family did not know where he was or whether he was dead or alive. During his enforced disappearance, Walid Yunis Ahmad was tortured. Walid Yunis Ahmad is one of thousands of people who have been detained for years without charge or trial in prisons across Iraq.
