Medical letter-writing action: Iran: Medical concern: Dr Fatemeh Izadi

The above-named is serving a sentence of 20 year’s imprisonment following a summary trial. She was released temporarily in August 1990 but returned to Evin Prison in October. Dr Izadi was a supporter of the Organization of the Iranian People’s Fedayan at the time of her arrest, and had previously been a political prisoner under the Shah. She is approximately 40 years old and is reported to have developed tuberculosis while in prison. Amnesty International has adopted her as a prisoner of conscience.
